[ARCHIVED] City of Emeryville Has Declared a State of Local Emergency

Patz CR_2016This is an important message from Emeryville Mayor Christian R. Patz regarding actions the City is taking to slow the spread of the coronavirus in our community. The Mayor would like to bring awareness to residents that, as of today, March 17th, the City will only provide essential services and most facilities and programs and in-person services will cease until April 7th. Please note that the City is closely monitoring this situation and as additional precautions are implemented, the City will communicate these updates through all of our available channels. Dear Emeryville Community,

The entire City Council and I are committed to everyone’s health and safety. City staff and I have been in regular contact with the Alameda County Health Department, as well as the California Department of Health. I want to commend City staff for their quick actions. We have closed all non-essential activities but city staff and our dedicated public safety officers continue the essential work of the city.

Everything we have done will shape the outcome of this crisis, and save lives if we stay calm, care for one another, and stay focused on protecting our community. That is why we must follow the guidelines laid out by Gov. Newsom, continue addressing local needs, and put the health and safety of the most vulnerable first in every choice we make. Emeryville and the Bay Area have endured difficult situations before, and our strength, resilience, and heart saw us through then, and will do so again.

Christian R. Patz, Mayor
