[ARCHIVED] Greenway Trail Improvements to Begin on September 23

ATP Greenway Crossing Improvements
at 65th, 66th, and 67th Streets

The City of Emeryville has contracted Ghilotti Bros., Inc. to perform street improvements along the Greenway Trail which will begin on September 23, 2019. This project entails crossing improvements at three crosswalks in Emeryville at the following locations:

  • 65th Street at Emeryville Greenway Trail
  • 66th Street at Emeryville Greenway Trail
  • 67th Street at Emeryville Greenway Trail

This project generally includes, but is not limited to, the reconstruction of asphalt pavement; construction of new concrete raised crosswalks; reconstruction of concrete curb and gutter; replacement of traffic striping and markings; installation of pedestrian/bicycle traffic detection systems; and installation of signs.

The work is to be completed within 30 working days. Pedestrian access to properties along the project route will be maintained at all times. The contractor will keep and maintain ADA compliance through all working areas. The Contractor will provide and maintain at minimum (2) 5-foot-wide paths for NB/SB pedestrian/Greenway traffic through the construction site. If a path through the construction site and within street right of way is not possible, the Contractor will lay out and maintain a safe and direct pedestrian path around the construction site within the public right of way. Pedestrian paths may be provided with surfacing of asphalt concrete, Portland cement concrete or timber.

The Contractor will provide and maintain safe travel for bicycles through the construction area. Bicyclists will be notified by signage of changes to the bicycle route, and Contractor will provide proper signage or temporary traffic markings to guide bicyclists through the construction area.

Generally, a full or partial closure of the street is allowed as long as access for local businesses and residences is maintained. Only one (1) of the three (3) vehicle crossings may be closed at any one time. Street closures will be clearly delineated, and detours clearly marked for ease of travel during construction. Some access will be limited, please park accordingly.

The following streets near the Greenway Crossing will be closed to vehicle traffic between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm beginning on the days listed. Closures will last approximately 7 days.

  • October 04, 2019 – 65th Street
  • October 14, 2019 – 66th Street
  • October 24, 2019 – 67th Street
