"Basking in Knowledge" Art Reception at ECCL

4727 San Pablo Avenue, Emeryville

Three artists have installed their works at the Emeryville Center of Community Life (ECCL) as of December 15, 2016. The latest, by Madeline Weiner of Colorado, is called “Basking in Knowledge” and is in the courtyard off San Pablo Avenue between the Library and the Welcome Center. This work is carved from dolomitic limestone and invites the community to climb upon and into the loving lap of a reflective child with a favorite book in hand with stacked books near him etched with local school children’s drawings of beloved book characters and favorite book titles.

Last month, Paul Vexler of Washington constructed and hoisted his suspended work “Trefoil” to the ceiling at the Welcome Center of ECCL to the wonder of all who pass under this spectacular, three dimension expression of a mathematical equation. Earlier in the summer, Kelly Ording hand painted a mural called “Weavings and Waterways”, located in the Teen Center of ECCL brightening the space and inspiring the young musicians using the room.

All are invited to a reception for the artists and community. Refreshments provided.
