[ARCHIVED] NEW MINIMUM WAGE AND PAID SICK LEAVE ORDINANCE GOES INTO EFFECT JULY 1, 2015

The Emeryville City Council adopted an ordinance on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 that will provide for a higher citywide minimum wage and additional paid sick leave provisions than required by the State of California. The new law goes into effect July 2, 2015. The law’s three key provisions are:

  • Establishes minimum wage rates to be paid to all employees working within Emeryville city limits:
    • For small businesses (55 or fewer employees): $12.25 per hour
    • For large businesses (56 or more employees): $14.44 per hour
  • Requires Paid Sick Leave
  • Requires payment of service charges to Hospitality Workers.

    Two public information sessions about the new law will be held at City Hall on June 24, 2015 and July 11, 2015
