    The City of Emeryville no longer has a Bike Locker Program. Through a grant from the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, new Bike Link bike lockers will be installed at the Amtrak Station, and at Bay St. in the coming year.

    A study done by StopWaste.org in the year 2000 revealed that construction and demolition (“C&D”) activities generated 21% of the waste landfilled in Alameda County with a similar percentage in Emeryville. In 2009, the City of Emeryville adopted an ordinance requiring a waste reduction target and waste reduction plan submittal for the operators of these types of activities to assist the City in achieving its goals of reducing waste sent to the landfill by 50% by 2020.

    All food vendors, such as restaurants, cafes, delis, and caterers, who use disposable food service-ware must switch to compostable or recyclable food service-ware by January 1, 2008.
